An introduction to hand-building using the coiling method.
 
Come and spend some time experimenting with clay using the coiling method of hand-building.
 
Our tutor, Emma Jayne Robertson, will guide you through the process step by step.
 
You will be using flat coils, rather than the traditional sausages.
 
Emma will introduce you to the technique starting with some mini practice pieces, before supporting you to create your own hand coiled masterpiece.
 
For those of you with a little more experience, you will be able to improve your skills to design and build your own piece, listening to Emma's hints and tips with along the way. 
 
The small friendly groups allows you to relax and enjoy experimenting with clay and experience the satisfaction of creating your own unique pieces. 
 
Your pieces will remain with us at the studio to dry out and have their first firing and then a clear glaze will be added to the surface before their second firing.
If you would prefer, you can opt to decorate your pieces with a range of colours to your own design at a later date (additional charges will apply) Please just let us know before you leave your session.
 
Suitability:      Adults & Age 12+      Beginners & Those with some experience
Please ask for advice if you have a younger creative person who is keen to take part.
 
Duration: 4 hours plus a break for lunch
 
Your place includes a delicious buffet style lunch provided by the Barn Café.
